First Eucharist

To invite children to the Table of the Lord in the celebration of their First Communion, we…

…introduce the celebration of Eucharist as a way of prayer and Thanksgiving.

…explore the meaning of Church as both the building and the people of God

…teach the Eucharistic mystery through the joyous reception of the Body and Blood of Jesus

…explore the meaning of receiving the Bread of Life as they are called to share God’s gifts with their brothers and sisters – and “live the Eucharist”.

Participants for First Eucharist are usually between the ages of 7-8.  Children participate in the Sunday Children’s Liturgy of the Word at 12:10 PM Mass, and attends preparation sessions for this sacrament from January through April consisting of five 1½ hr sessions. Parents are expected to attend these lessons with their child.

The celebration of First Eucharist will take place soon after Easter.

Parents wishing to enroll their child in First Eucharist should contact the Parish Office by September 8, 2013.
