Baptism (over 7 years old)

Your child’s baptism is a time for celebration and joy. Baptism is not only a sign and sacrament that God gave us to show us His love, but is an opportunity for us to realize that God believes in us! Through Water and Spirit, the child is welcomed into the family of God and called forth to be a witness of faith through living their Baptism. The faith of the parents is integral to the faith of the child to be baptized.

Godparents are chosen from the Catholic community to witness to the faith entrusted to them for the child. Christian Witnesses are Christians who live the example of their baptism from a Christian tradition other than the Catholic Faith. The opportunity to baptize your child is often an opportunity for parents to rediscover their faith and understand that faith as an adult.

NOTE:  To prepare for this sacrament, children attend the preparation program for First Reconciliation and First Communion, and will be baptized at an appropriate time prior to the celebration of these other Sacraments.

Parents wishing to enroll their child (over 7 years of age) for Sacramental Preparation (Baptism, Reconcilation and First Communion) Parents should contact the Parish Office in the Fall to enroll their child into the program.
